Chandler moms looking to shed pregnancy pounds and interact with their young children are signing up for boot camp.
Baby Boot Camp is a stroller-based fitness group that not only concentrates on post-natal moms but also pregnant ones. Each class is a full body workout and gives moms the opportunity to keep and interact with their babies rather than leaving them at a sitter or dropping them off in a gym daycare.
“Not only are some women intimidated to go to the gym, but many don’t want to leave their babies with a baby-sitter,” said owner and certified personal trainer Renee Dusablon.Dusablon found out about Baby Boot Camp after she had her second child and was interested in taking classes. Her job as a mom and as an administrative coordinator for an insurance company took up too much time so she decided to open up her own local branch of Baby Boot Camp, a Florida-based franchise.
Her group normally meets in Chandler Fashion Center in the mornings and a Tempe school in the evenings. In mid-September when the temperatures start to cool, Dusablon will move classes outdoors to a Tempe park.
She said she likes to keep her classes smaller so she can do more one-on-one personal training to modify the exercise according to each mom.
Dusablon’s 55-minute workouts encompass cardio, power walking, strength and core training, yoga and Pilates. She also does mat work to work the abs and changes the routine every so often so it doesn’t become too repetitive.
She said she picks exercises moms can do together, which gives them a chance to interact with one another. She also develops workouts that get the babies out of the stroller and interacting with mom.
Chandler resident Angela Rutkowski said she heard about Baby Boot Camp through a friend. She said she enjoys the workout because she can involve her daughter, Emily.
At Baby Boot Camp, the babies are the first priority. Moms are free to stop their exercises to take care of whatever needs the babies might have. If the baby gets fussy or needs something, mom is right there to take care of him or her.
SchoolOfMusic.com recruits music teachers and then provides music lessons in students’ homes, teachers’ home studios, and after school programs. Their bizop is a must see!
