Rhea Nowling, BeautiControl senior sales director

Rhea Nowling has been selling BeautiControl personalized skin care products for 27 years.

“What we do is bring the spa into the home,” she said.

She was introduced to the products at a BeautiControlparty and said she fell in love with how her skin felt, “I thought this is something I can do,” she said. “I can work this around the needs of my family.”

Nowling built her clientele, one client at a time, she said. She usually does spa parties for about eight women a couple times a week in Lafayette and surrounding areas.

Amber Fields, lia sophia unit manager

Amber Fields is newer to the home-based business scene. She has only been selling lia sophia jewelry for two and a half years while she works full-time as an insurance agent. She decided to sell the products for extra income to invest in her 3-year-old son, Ethan Fields’ college fund.

Her first year, she made almost $20,000 and worked 4 or 5 nights a month.

Last year, she did about five to six shows a month and said her income doubled.

She said the home parties are often social events for women and the ladies often make it a ladies night out or even have a Friday night sleep over. She’ll come and do a show and the women might go out to dinner afterwards.
