Fun is serious business for stay-at-home mom Mandy Grenier of Old Turnpike Road, who writes about her day-trip adventures with her 2-year-old son Meric on her One Mom’s Review blog site.

“It really is a reference guide for parents in the area,” she says.

Planning a day out — with a tot in tow — to a zoo, museum or farm can be difficult if you don’t know what to expect, Grenier says.

The aim of her blog is to demystify fun, kid-friendly New England destinations for parents.

Grenier says she used to search the Internet for places to bring Meric. What she wanted was a short unbiased review of each place so she would know what to expect when they got there.

Is there a charge for admission? What age groups is it appropriate for? Is it stroller accessible? And how clean are the bathrooms? Those were the types of questions she wanted answered.

She never found what she was looking for so she started her own blog site, onemomsreview.blogspot.com. In about a month, the site has received over 1,500 hits.

On the blog, she posts pictures of their day trips with an overall review of the destination. Destinations are rated by smiles, with five smiles being the best. Each review includes information on parking, fees, bathrooms, cleanliness and gift shops. Grenier has already posted several reviews including Friendly Farm in Dublin, the Seacoast Science Center in Rye and Liquid Planet in Candia.

“We usually try to get out twice a week to different places,” she says. “It’s nice to get out If I’m going to go to these places, I might as well write about the places that we go so that other parents know what to expect.”
