A few years ago, Nancy Klein dropped her daughter off for a play date. Before she walked out the door, she decided she should leave a phone number in case of emergency. And, as always, she started scrambling for pen and paper.
”I took a piece of paper out of the bottom of my purse - ‘Call me if you need me,’ ” she said. ”I wrote down my numbers and I walked away, and I thought, ‘What if they actually needed me? I’ve just given them a piece of trash.’ ”That’s when genius struck for Klein, a mother of three who lives in California. She was tired of digging around for old check stubs and stray gum wrappers every time she wanted to give another mother her phone number. Suddenly, she knew what she needed: She needed business cards.
Klein, who designed her own cards and now sells them online, isn’t the only mom to have this revelation. Business cards for moms - also called ”mommy cards” and ”mommy calling cards” - are becoming a must-have accessory for harried mothers whose kids’ lives are just as busy as their own.
