Starting next month, even the babies in Wellesley will begin to go green.
A new store, Your Baby Naturally, is coming to Wellesley Square in August. The store will sell organic baby products such as clothes made without chemicals or dyes, wooden toys, organic bedding and cloth diapers. It is the first, and so far only, store of its kind in Wellesley.
“There’s a lot of baby stores, but we’re definitely offering a different type of product,” said the store’s owner, Kimberly Kelly. “I cater to everybody.”
The store is mostly for newborns to children around 4 years old. The organic clothes and other natural products are meant to be a healthy clothing alternative for children, said Kelly, 31.
Wearing a polo shirt and shorts, Kelly didn’t look like the stereotypical “earthy crunchy” mom. Yet she is well versed on the harmful effects chemicals used in clothing can have on babies and the environment, which is the main reason she implores mothers to try her store.
“I’ll educate, but I won’t shove it down [customers’] throats,” the Holliston resident said, adding she loves cloth diapers because disposable ones can take up to 500 years to completely decompose.
Store employee Sandra Eckelman, who brings her own two children to the store while she works, said simply working there made her think differently about what products she uses at home. While she doesn’t use cloth diapers all the time on her children, she does own a few and uses them when she wants to give her kids a break from disposable diapers.
