Busy moms look for ways to socialize with other moms while their children play.
One option is the new Nibbles’ Play Cafe, 13 Huntington Lane, Wheeling, designed to provide a safe place for children ages 6 months to 7 years to play and give their moms a break. Nibbles’ will be having its grand opening from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. during the week of July 14 to 18.
“I was a stay-at-home mom for over a decade after working with special needs children,” said owner Kathleen Weinberg, a Northbrook resident. “I thought of the concept for Nibbles’ one day when I was thinking of re-entering the work force.”
The venue features a play area, filled with different playtime activities — such as blocks, dress-up clothes and artwork activities — based on age and designed to promote imagination. It also features a restaurant where moms can choose from a bistro-style menu — featuring sandwiches, soups, coffee and salads — and a separate children’s menu filled with children’s favorites such as chicken nuggets.
The play cafe also features a wide use of eco-friendly materials. The floors and trim are made out of bamboo, the walls are painted with low-odor anti-microbial paint, and the rugs in the play area are made with recycled products.
