They started out as two moms, that also happened to be sisters, in need of the right casting kit so they could make a cast of their newborn’s hands and feet. When they couldn’t find the right thing, they went on to test out different combinations for a few weeks before finding the best possible casting mix.
They gave out some of the leftovers to friends and family to use as well. From there the word some how got out about their casting materials and requests for kits just started to come in. A business was born.
They didn’t start out as Casting Keepsakes. Going to eBay first they’ve had tons of success with over 10,000 transactions since 2001.
It has continued as they have moved out of their kitchens into a dedicated work space. From there they chose not to have a physical store but they can be found at expos and through their online store.
It’s always interesting to see how accidental businesses take form. This fix to their own problems turned around and placed an opportunity in their laps which has since turned into something that’s been extremely profitable. A dream to anyone looking for a home based business.

You ladies are an inspiration to the rest of us. Keep up the good work! I’m surprised Oprah hasn’t picked up on you guys yet. I will have to drop her a line and point her your way.
Thanks for giving us Moms a good name and a good product.
