Gigi Invention Blanketing The Market

Michigan Local & Small Business News:

Heather Gaston, a native of Flushing, has joined the growing ranks of the momprenueurs, women who have created something to make their lives as moms easier and turned the creation into a business.

Gaston’s creation? A small blanket, roughly the size of a placemat, made of “stylish and divine fabric” and perfect for comforting a baby on the go.

“It was totally accidental,” Gaston said.

“My daughter Gabby had a blanket she loved and adored, but I couldn’t stand it. I hated having to shove it into the diaper bag. It took up so much room. I didn’t consider myself much of a seamstress, but I decided to make her a blanket.”

That was three years ago. Now Gaston has another daughter, Marilyn, 1, who is being soothed by a Gigi Blanki. Gabby and Marilyn aren’t the only babies who are fans of their mother’s creations.

A Gigi Blanki, a chic ode to her oldest daughter’s initials, is silky smooth on one side and cuddly soft on the other.

Blankis can be ordered in a variety of combinations, and at $25 each, Gaston says parents can afford to buy one to match multiple outfits.
