With an increasing number of errands to run, and dwindling time, neighbors Holly Fiorini and Ellen Pidde decided to launch an errand running business.
They started 2nd Hands Errand Services in March.“We knew there was a need in the area for our services. We know many are needing people to do their grocery shopping, especially the elderly,” Fiorini said. “It only takes a phone call.”
After researching it and learning how more hospitals and corporations are hiring errand services, the two stay-at-home moms knew it was a slam dunk. The two women became fully insured and bonded to go into homes and help with errands.
2nd Hands Errand Service offers in-home dog sitting, grocery shopping, party planning, medication pick-ups, ticket buying, postal deliveries and more. They charge roughly $20 an hour for errands, but have different rates for businesses and pet sitting services.
Although they only have a few customers now, they hope to market their business to big corporations in the Stateline Area. After all, in metropolitan areas, many companies offer their employees errand services as a job perk.
“There are bigger companies that could benefit from our services,” Fiorini said. “This offers the luxury of time for people. They can go out and spend time with their families instead of running tedious errands.”
