Working mom Michelle Stevens, 37, didn’t have time for play dates with her two sons and was searching for another way to connect with mothers in Central Florida.
“I came up with an idea of doing an Internet radio show because I had looked at radio shows but it was expensive and I couldn’t be somewhere at a certain time every day.”
Stevens, who lives in Orlando, had received an e-mail about a parenting education company called Parents Everywhere offering a children’s behavior class in March. She decided to register for the course after experiencing a crazy day with her boys. She mentioned the show idea to instructor and owner Suzette Boyette, 36, during a phone conversation. It was kismet.
“My husband, Troy, and I had been talking about doing a podcast. We had already bought the equipment and were ready to go,” Boyette said.
Madness of Motherhood Show (madnessofmotherhood.com), with Boyette and Stevens as hosts, launched in April.
More than 300 listeners, including moms from Orange and Seminole counties, tune in to the podcast each week, which lasts 45 minutes to one hour. The program links moms with businesses, products and ideas.
