Goober Baby has conquered Canada and made inroads in Europe. Next stop: the United States.
Vancouver moms Melissa Krezanski and Jennifer Bogart will be in Las Vegas this weekend to promote their home-based business at the ABC Kids Expo, the leading trade show for the “juvenile products” industry.
They’ve already won the attention of Tinseltown - Goober Baby was selected for a “Hollywood baby breakfast club” gift basket - and picked up U.S. representatives who will feature the brand at showrooms in Los Angeles and New York.
The self-described “mompreneurs” can’t quite believe how quickly business has taken off since they came up with the idea of crafting a clutch-purse-sized cloth bag for toting baby wipes and a couple of diapers that’s not simply bland or adorned with tiny teddy bears.
Designed for moms who don’t want to subjugate their personal style to the norms of the nursery, the Goober Baby Change Purse is billed as using “hip exterior fabrics, soft linings and chic designs.”
Krezanski, 33, and Bogart, 36, developed the concept after giving birth to daughters, Maya and Emelia respectively, within 12 days of each other in July 2005.
“There are things that you need as a new mom to take care of your baby and we just couldn’t find anything that was pretty that had mom in mind,” Krezanski said in an interview.
