Roseville Press Tribune:

When it comes to seemingly impossible twists, Ryanne Cruz knows how to transform them into something wonderfully unexpected.

This was especially true when Cruz’s husband Myron’s sudden job transfer uprooted their young family from their Bay Area home to Roseville.

Cruz, owner of Hipee Baby, a new tie-dyed baby clothing business, said it was the best thing that ever happened to her.

“We love it here,” said Cruz, a former dispatcher for a telecommunications company. “Thanks to the move, I’ve been a stay-at-home mom for four years now, and it’s the most amazing and important thing I’ve ever done. I’m so very grateful to be able to do it.

When Cruz’s son Merrick was born a year ago, she had a hard time finding cute outfits for baby boys. Not content to settle for ordinary boy clothes, she decided to make her own. It wasn’t long before people started asking her where she bought them.

The idea for Hipee Baby started when she needed a gift for a friend’s baby shower. Cruz, who was already by that time making tie-dyed clothing for Merrick and 5-year-old daughter Taylor, decided to do something practical - with a little bit of a twist.

“I wanted to give my friend something she could really use - diapers. But they just seemed so boring, so I turned them into a diaper cake.”

Inside the diaper cake, she tucked a little tie-dyed one-piece shirt with the baby’s name on it. The gift was a huge hit. Cruz decided to turn this labor of love into a business and Hipee Baby was born.
