Since two Philadelphia women launched the mother of all Web sites last year, MomSpace has grown from a local start-up into a national resource.
Joani Reisen and Erica Rubach, both mothers of two, founded the Drexel Hill-based MomSpace on the idea that “Moms trust other moms,” Reisen said.
“The purpose of the space is to help busy moms,” she explained. “We’re the only site out there set up so that moms can meet other moms locally.”
Reisen said MomSpace was designed to address any and all questions mothers may have — from wondering where to have a birthday party to more serious issues dealing with children’s illness.
Reisen and Rubach initially intended the site to work as a local directory that would allow mothers to refer each other to the places they shop and the services they use.
“The mom market is huge,” Reisen said. “Moms make 80 percent of the buying decisions in the household. Moms are the CEOs of their household.”
