A new call center that lets its agents work at their homes, and that is especially popular with stay-home moms, has opened in Tempe.
LiveOps, based in Palo Alto, Calif., opened an office in Tempe and will help recruit more than 1,200 home-based agents living in the Southwest, said Pam Smith, vice president of marketing.
“It’s like a call center. But rather than having everyone sit in a building and cubicles, our agents actually sit at home,” she said.
About three-fourths of the company’s 10,000 independent agents are stay-home mothers, she said. The jobs are also popular with elderly caregivers, retirees and military spouses.
Typical agents earn $8 to $20 an hour and are paid by the actual minutes they work.
