Word Spreads About Mom’s Cookies

The Marietta Times:

Angela Malone makes her home on Whipple Run Road with husband, Keith, and five home-schooled children — four of them girls.

“I told the girls, ‘let’s make some cookies and try to sell them downtown,’” Malone said.

They apparently didn’t have to try too hard because their first sale was a big success, and the Marietta Cookie Company was born.

“By Christmas we were baking constantly,” Malone said. “Now we’re working year round.”

She and oldest daughter, Abigail, 15, operate the company out of their home kitchen, making party trays with regular-sized or miniature cookies, gift-boxed cookies, wedding cookies and other cookie-based products.

Most of the goodies come from recipes that have been handed down through Angela’s family.

The Marietta Cookie Company now bakes 11 varieties of gourmet and old-fashioned cookies that are not only delivered locally, but also across the U.S. and overseas to countries like Italy and Spain.

And they have done it all without the Internet, although Malone is now considering a possible Web site.
