Business Blooms With Memory Of Womans’ Mother

Niagara This Week:

Tina Breton loves yellow.
Breton believes the colour is known to be calming and soothing. And, people whose favourite colour is yellow are known to be focused.

But most importantly, Breton loves yellow because it is the colour of her mother’s favourite flower. As a young girl, Breton remembers her mother tending to the many yellow tulips in the garden at the front of their Niagara Falls home. Breton’s mother, Frances Seguin, loved spending time outdoors, and admiring her collection of the flowers when they bloomed every spring.

Tragically, Breton lost her mother when she was 12. But as a tribute to the woman she looked up to, she will celebrate the grand opening of her new, revamped business, the Yellow Tulip Massage Therapy Clinic and Wellness Centre, on May 31 — the anniversary of her mother’s passing. The Yellow Tulip unofficially opened its doors May 2, on the anniversary of Breton’s mother’s birthday.

“These dates are significant to me as they are dates I associate with my mother in a sort of sad way,” said Breton. “In honouring my mother and the yellow tulip, these dates will no longer represent death but re-birth, just like the tulip every spring fighting its way through the soil to enjoy the sun.”

Breton, who is a registered massage therapist, is a single mom raising a teenage boy and girl. She has been in business for eight years, and is excited to offer new services to existing and new clients who may have experienced similar circumstances, and who want to treat themselves to a relaxing massage or a wellness package.
