Lower Hudson Online:

Lynda Fassa has balanced motherhood with business, raising three daughters: Layla, 13; Mina, 10; and Nadia, 8.

Fassa is co-owner, along with her husband, Hossein, of Irvington-based Green Babies Inc., a manufacturer of organic-cotton baby clothing and other items.

Green Babies was also started about a dozen years ago and surpassed $1 million in sales about 18 months ago, Fassa says.

A former fashion model, Fassa says she loves her business but it’s much like riding a roller coaster.

“It’s thrilling, and it’s really, really scary.”

Layla, who has allergies to traditional cotton, was the impetus for starting the business, Fassa says. Unable to find fashionable, organic-cotton baby clothes, she created her own designs, and Green Babies was born. Mina and Nadia were also inspirations for Green Babies products - layettes and wooden toys.
