Tereson Thomas, CEO of New Iberia-based Mother of Eden Inc. and inventor of the Fuzzi Bunz diapers, has been named Best Entrepreneur at the third annual Stevie Awards for Women in Business.
Thomas began building Mother of Eden nearly eight years ago and invented and patented the Fuzzi Bunz pocket diaper system in 1999 after not being able to find a solution to her then-4-month-old son’s chronic diaper rash.
“Necessity is the mother of invention, and necessity is what led me to invent Fuzzi Bunz,” Thomas said in her award acceptance speech. “It’s a good feeling to see a mom and businesswoman like me being recognized nationally for her achievements.”
The Stevie Awards were created to honor and generate public recognition of the efforts, accomplishments and positive contributions of businesspeople worldwide, according to its Web site.
All women entrepreneurs and executives worldwide are eligible to be nominated for Women in Business awards.
